Artifacts from St. Ansgarius Episcopal Church from the 1800s
This month, Kyle's Place Gallery at St. James Commons is hosting an exhibit of artifacts from St. Ansgarius Episcopal Church, curated by North Park University and The Swedish-American Historical Society. St. Ansgarius Episcopal Church in Chicago (1849 to 1920), was a Scandinavian Episcopal Church located at Sedgwick and Chicago Avenue. The exhibit celebrates the Scandinavian Episcopal Church in Chicago in the 1800s, including the Jenny Lind chalice and paten donated by her in 1851, as well as recently conserved historical records.
On Saturday, April 30, at St. James Commons there will be an all-day celebration of Scandinavian Life, including a Choral Eucharist at 11:00 a.m.with Bishop Jeffrey Lee presiding and music by the Cathedral Choir.
