St. James Millennium Park Concert Gathering June 15
June 09, 2016
The first of several summer gatherings for St. James members and friends at Millennium Park for free Grant Park Music Festival performances.
All are invited this summer to join others from St. James Cathedral for several Grant Park Music Festival concerts in Millennium Park.
We are about to begin the season by gathering for the Wednesday evening, June 15, opening night concert at 6:30 p.m. The program is: Barber: Essay No. 2, Poulenc: Concerto for Two Pianos and Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition. Read more . . .
We will gather in the northwest area of the great lawn, directly east of Cloudgate (the bean) sculpture. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m., but we strongly suggest you come as early as you can. This concert is the season opener, so it surely will be well attended. Sean Smith (917-806-6071) and David Briere (773-316-8832) will be at the location by 5:00 p.m. to reserve as much space as possible. You can text or phone either of them if you need help finding the group. Look for the waving red streamers! We strongly encourage you to join us as early as possible due to the popularity of these concerts and holding space can be difficult. The pre-concert time will be an excellent opportunity to visit and meet one another.
You will need to bring your own chairs or blankets, food and drink. The ground can be moist, so a plastic sheet under a blanket is recommended. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for us!
This is our first attempt at gathering friends and family from St. James for these wonderful concerts and we look forward to seeing you. Please contact David Briere if you plan to join us and if you have any questions or concerns.
The next gathering for a Millennium Park concert will be Saturday, July 9. Further details about that concert will be forthcoming.
