Choral Evensong

Sunday, March 6 @ 4 p.m. (Organ Prelude @ 3:30 p.m.)

At Evensong on Sunday, March 6, the Cathedral Choir sings Kenneth Leighton's evocative Second Evening Service, a gem of 20th-century church music. The anthem will be Howells' iconic "Like as the Hart," a simple anthem written during the darkest days of World War II. At 3:30pm, Michael Rees (Organ Scholar at Fourth Presbyterian Church) offers a Lenten organ recital.

Mark the beginning of Lent with the outward sign of our humanity on this important day of the year. This year, St. James will offer three in-person services and one live-streamed service. Join us in person at 8 a.m., 12:10 p.m., or 6:30 p.m. in the Cathedral, or tune in to our live-stream of the 6:30 p.m. service on our streaming page or YouTube channel.

Wednesday Night Lenten Formation

Come on in, the Water's Fine

This Lenten season you are invited to join others from the St. James Cathedral community to wade into the waters of baptism by exploring one of the Baptismal Covenants each Wednesday of Lent as we journey towards Easter. Mark your calendars for March 9, 16, 23, 30 and April 6.
 
Wednesday night programming kicks off with a brief Evensong led by the St. James Choristers at 5:45 p.m., intergenerational dinner at 6:00 p.m. in the Great Hall, with formation programming beginning at 6:45 p.m. in Kyle's Place.
